Practice Area Overview

Connecticut Family Law Attorney, Divorce Lawyer and Mediator

I have successfully represented clients in New London and Windham counties in all of their family law needs. My approach is simple: While I understand the emotional elements in family law disputes, I will help you put your emotions aside by getting to the facts and the legal issues that will give you answers.

At the law firm of John C. Valliere, I have experience in a variety of areas, such as:

Family law - I have a background working with clients on all their family law needs, including same-sex unions, unmarried-parent concerns, paternity issues, probate court and prenuptial agreements.

Divorce - The successful management of a divorce case involves legal knowledge, compassion and the ability to read people and understand the whole situation. I bring those strengths to the table, whether in mediation or in a courtroom. I also offer a cost-effective flat fee option for those parties who have an uncontested divorce action and need help preparing and filing the necessary legal paperwork to dissolve their marriage.

Child custody and visitation - Mothers and fathers should be allowed to see their children. They have the right to provide them with the financial support they need without going into financial ruin. As your divorce lawyer, I will represent your rights as a parent as we seek a solution that is reasonable to both sides. Even after a decision is made, I can help you seek to modify a judgment if circumstances change.

Child support - I practice family law and can help you work out complicated disputes over child custody. Whether you need to obtain an order for child support, modify a current support order or get help with child support enforcement, I can represent you.

Mediation - As a certified mediator, I have a background in dispute resolution. I am committed and passionate about the effectiveness of mediation for the financial and the emotional well-being of you and your family.

Collaborative law - In a series of meetings, collaborative law helps both parties resolve contested issues with their attorneys. This approach can help you reach reasonable agreements in complicated areas, such as property division, alimony and child custody.
